Methodology Overview

B elow you'll find a basic overview of the six main phases most projects go through:

1. Research & Concept Development

In this phase I get acquainted with your company: learn how you work; your value proposition; target markets; existing market positioning, assets, collateral materials; etc. In short, I review anything that will lend insights on how to establish a salient presence in the mind of your market.

Once that is accomplished, the creative work can begin: We will engage in brainstorming sessions, which will lead to working sketches and concept refinement until we both agree that the flavor is just right.

2. Design Development

At this stage, we further develop the solutions realized in Phase 1. The Information Architecture and User Interface of the site are hammered out. Then typefaces and other design elements are selected. If required, illustration, photography, copy writing, c
ustom programming, and any additional deliverables are also assigned.

3. Design Implementation

This is the stage in which all the elements come together and production begins. It's an exciting phase as everyone gets to see what the final product will really look and feel like. The project's design spec is "frozen," allowing for final delivery formats to be established; and the budget and schedule of deliverables to be finalized.

4. Mechanical Preparation

At last, construction on the finished piece begins. Design comps are converted to code, scripts are written, and mechanical elements are prepared. This is also the time when Quality Assurance (QA) measures begin to take effect and the documentation and guidelines begin to form.

5. Final Production

We're almost there. It's now time for all the finished pieces to integrate and engage in the final translation from the development environment to the "live" environment. Files are prepared for final deployment: databases are fully linked, server code is integrated, security measures are established, and debug code is removed. It is also at this point that the most serious QA takes place as the product is groomed from head to toe before release into the wild.

6. Launch and Delivery

At last the product is delivered to it's final environment! It undergoes one final check to make sure that it functions in the real world as well as it did in the womb. This is also the time when all style guides and documentation are delivered and any training or ongoing support programs are implemented.
